Different states get their energy from different places, and have different energy needs. We need to know what state you live in so we can adjust our calculation to more closely match your situation.
The most accurate calculation is when enter the annual total from 12 months utililty bills, contact your energy company to obtain emperical data on your energy use or look on your utility bill. If you only have the one month's data, "Indexed" will use cooling degree days for your state as provided by the Energy Information Administration to estimate you annual usage. Once your annual electricity needs are known the program will use coeficients published by the EPA for green house gas emissions in your state per kWh of electricity generated.
Leave any value 0 or blank and it will not be included in the calculation. Once your annual heating needs are known the program will use standard conversions to determine the carbon equivalents of your emissions.
